Topic: IF NOT THE LORD
Text : Psalm 124: 1-3.
1: If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;
2: If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
3: Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
Some people wonder why God will allow them go through somethings, they feel he should have stopped the unpleasant situation from occurring since he can’t do all things. Some think like: why could he have allowed the devil to strike? But the writer of Psalm 124 wouldn’t think like that, the Psalmist, David, was a man of great thought, no wonder God referred to him as a man after his heart.
Psalms 124 expresses the thought David, and his thinking partern.
How does the Psalmist (King David) think?
God is not responsible for what I am going through, in fact, it is God who made it bearable for me, it would have been unbearable if not God.
This man David has been through some tough challenges, he went through some life threatening challenges, but yet, he acknowledged that God was not be blamed for the pains of his hard times, but should be praised for not allowing things to get worst.
Let me justify the thinking of the Psalmist; just as you are permitted to live on this Earth, so the devil is also allowed to operate, and you can be sure that he is always ready to put obstructions on the way of anyone. He has failed in heaven, he lost so much that he can’t afford to see anyone succeed in life. So he lunches attacks on people, businesses, family, etc, but God has always seen his people through. This is what the Psalmist understood, and that is the reason he wrote Psalms 124.
Heaven is the only trouble free zone, as long as we are on these Earth there will be challenges, but God is committed to giving us victory always, Jesus spoke in clear terms in John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
If you are going through somethings now, know that it is the Lord, who has not made things to get worst, God is faithful in all his dealings. He is not to be blamed for the urgly situations, but should be praised for victory and testimonies, let’s praise him because has not allowed, and he will not allow problems to swallow us.
In verse 6 of Psalms 124 David said ‘..Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth…’ Everyone with right thinking partern like David will bless the Lord in all situations. And for the fact that he will not allow us to suffer loss, bless his name. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* I am grateful Lord, for battles you have conquered and the ones you will conquer.
