Topic: REVELATION FROM GENESIS..
(Exposition about Cain and Abel) part 5.
Text: Genesis 2: 16,17.
16: And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;
17: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. Amplified.
Since man was made in God’s image and nature he was expected to behave like God. God’s sinless nature was planted in man so that he could live in the likeness of God.
Man was not meant to have the knowledge of evil rather, the knowledge of good things. The consumption of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil exposed the human race to knowledge of evil. The fruit didn’t just bring humanity to the position of death but also the pollution of the human mind with evil thoughts and desires.
The existence of Cain and Abel was simply the exhibition of the contamination of the human body which is the resultant effect of consuming the forbidden fruit.
It is called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, it wasn’t meant to make man completely bad, it is simply to expose man to the knowledge of evil things, while he retains knowledge of good things. Abel is a sign that there is a quality of goodness in every man while Cain connotes the wickedness, evil, envy, jealousy, hatred, bitterness, etc in man.
Come to think of it, who taught Cain how to kill? Who taught him envy, jealousy, hatred towards his own blood? It is simply the effect of the forbidden fruit. Cain is an exhibition of the contamination through the forbidden fruit. Evil spread through Cain to all humanity, not because he learnt it from someone, it became a lifestyle, it came from the imagination of his heart.
Look at it here Genesis 4:8
And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. Cain’s horrific act took place in Genesis 4, in Genesis 6 God was fed up with the atrocities of men look at it here : And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6:5.
There was no institution that thought men evil, it is the spread of evil through the consumption of the forbidden fruit.
The coming of Jesus is to change men to the very nature of God which was lost in Adam. No one with the Adamic nature can reign with God, anyone that must reign with him must be completely cleansed from the poison Adam consumed and that cleansing comes only by the blood of Jesus. God bless you.
