Topic: ‘ FOLLOW ME ‘. Part 2.
Text: Matthew 9:9.
9: As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s office; and He said to him, Be My disciple [side with My party and follow Me]. And he rose and followed Him. Amplified.
Matthew leaving his source of income to follow Jesus made a great sacrifice. What could have propelled his prompt obedience to the instruction of Jesus?
Though the statement ‘ follow me ‘ could been seen has a command, Matthew was not compelled to follow Jesus. It is important you know that it is not in the attitude of God to force men to do his will, every man is given the willpower to decide whatever he wants.
Matthew could have stayed back but he chose to obey Jesus. Many people think he followed Jesus probably because Jesus was a great man, they fail to realize that this was at a time he was just chosing his disciples, Matthew was one of the first twelve, it was obvious that he was not following the crowd to take his decision.
The decision of Matthew was of great benefits to him, he got direction for his life and destiny.
When Jesus said, ‘ follow me ‘, to Matthew he meant I will show you the way to your destiny. The statement means I will give you direction in life, I see Jesus saying, ‘ if you follow me, you can’t miss it in life, your life with me will be saved ‘.
Though Matthew had not known what Jesus had in mind for him, he followed Jesus without questioning. He Chose to follow by faith and left his source of finance to live by faith.
Following Jesus is not a risk, but a life of faith knowing that the saviour will make the best out of our lives. Matthew got the best of his life as he choice was right.
When Jesus says, ‘ follow me ‘ he was saying I will give you direction in all endeavors, he is ready to give us direction in all endeavors, just be committed to following him, you are not taking risk by following Jesus rather, you are connecting by faith to get the best of your life. God bless you.
* I have decided to follow you Lord, give me direction into destiny.
* Give me direction in business and career in Jesus name.
