Topic: UNDERSTANDING FASTING
Text : Mark 9: 17- 30
KJV:And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
KJV:And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. Mark 9:28,29
Fasting is defined as ‘abstaining from food’ ‘food is defined’ as anything that brings satisfaction to your body in other words food is anything that feeds your body, anything that brings pleasure to your body, so fasting is denying your body of pleasure with a desire to receive from God it’s yielding your body to God as instrument of righteousness. Basically the flesh seeks control of your life but when a believer is waiting upon the Lord in fasting and prayer he or she tends to subdue the fleshy desires to bring his or her spirit alive. Fasting with prayer fires up your spirit man when it’s properly done, it’s like pouring petrol on a naked fire, in our text Jesus expressly said some things only respond to fasting and prayer. So beloved don’t be deceived as some brethren say ‘l need not to fast Jesus has paid all the price for me’ it’s absolutely unscriptural, even medical doctors recommend fasting once a week.
MY RECOMMENDATION
1, choose a day to fast in the week
2, endeavour to have good time to pray
3, don’t wait until problems or challenges come before you fast and pray
4, let your fasting be an act of worship to God
5, fasting without holiness is in vain
6, address stubborn mountains on a fasting day.
7, meditate on the word of God (a passage of the scripture)
8, be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit will tell you.

1, Lord help to me die to the flesh
2, let my spirit man be alive
3, Lord help me to prevail in the place of prayer
4, speak to mountains in your life, family, business and ministry, command them to crash and crumble.
