Topic: UNRAVELLING THE MYSTERY OF RESURRECTION.
Text: John 11:25,26.
25: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
All men are considered dead in Adam, as far as God is concern the human race is dead. Let me analyse that; The human soul, body and spirit are not meant to die. God made Adam in his own nature, an everlasting nature, but after he ate the forbidden fruit he lost the eternal nature of God and now has to face death.
In the old testament, there was no promise if eternity to anyone, not even Moses who was talking to God face to face. No hope of reigning with God. They died and were sleeping, never to be awoken.
So, the human race inherited death from Adam and Eve. Jesus speaking in our text said, ‘ I am the resurrection and the life.. ‘ please take note of the definite article ‘ the ‘, in both resurrection and life. It means no other person resurrects the human race.
Adam was a symbol of death to human race while Jesus came to resurrect us from sleep of death. It was absolutely important for him to die first before resurrecting so that he can take us from where Adam left us.
Adam left the human race at the state of death, by eating the forbidden fruit his body became corruptible and lost ability to live for ever, the forbidden fruit then became a poison of slow death, that’s the reason why different kinds of ailments set as in at old age for all human beings.
The human body then has expiring date, the cells, sinews, muscles have expiring date, the bones become weak as we grow older. They all reacts to the slow poison that Adam and Eve ate at Eden.
Death of Jesus is meant to pick the human race up from the state of death and empowers us to live eternally, restoring us to the very image and nature of God that is incorruptible and now we can live through out eternity reigning with God.
Receiving Christ Jesus is receiving resurrection from death and eternal life. God bless you.

* Help me to reign eternally with you in Jesus name.
