Topic: THE HOUSE OF GOD…Part 5
Text: Psalms 122:1KJV
1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.
In part four, we discussed that the house of God is God’s dwelling place. Today we want to discuss the house of God as the house of God’s word.
The house of God is the right place to receive and hear the word of God either directly from God himself or through the mouth of his ministers. According to 2 Timothy 3:16-17 which says
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
The word of God is given for :
* Doctrine: To belief and live the pattern of life that is approved of God for his people. That is the heavenly kingdom lifestyle here on earth. Many however do not see the church of God as such because they tend to run away from the church of God when it comes to hard doctrines. That is when you see people jumping from one church to another just to find a place where they will hear words that suites them and not offensive to them
* Reproof/Correct: Reproof means to rebuke and reprimand. Correct means to set aright or to make amends. God speaks his words to rebuke his children for wrongs done and to make them aright before him, that is one of the ways God sees his house but many do not want to be rebuked let alone be corrected
* Instruction: God gives his words to direct and guide his children in their walk with him. He speaks to direct their pathways into his blessing, he speaks to guide their steps far away from troubles and dangers. But many are not patient and attentive enough in the house of God to hear him, and several who heard do not understand and some who understand end up not obeying God’s instructions given to them.
Beloved, God’s house is the right place to receive his words for your survival in this journey of life, so you have got to be attentive, patient, wait on him to speak and be ready to obey him in totality without questioning him. His house is not a place of jisting or gossip at the moment of worship or sermon, It a place to listen, learn and to become a perfect man thoroughly furnished unto good works, it is not a place to proof that you know more than your Pastor.
