Topic: ‘ FOLLOW ME ‘. Part 3.
Text: Matthew 9:9.
9: As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s office; and He said to him, Be My disciple [side with My party and follow Me]. And he rose and followed Him. Amplified.
In part 1 I did say Tax collectors were sinners by trade, lying and cheating their way into riches and robbing from even the poorest among their people. Matthew was one of them, he was making money but lacked go reputation among people. He was most probably making money but not having peace of mind.
I see Jesus telling him, ‘ follow me, I will give you rest ‘. Don’t forget it was in the epistle of Matthew that we have this; Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. Matthew was not having rest for his though he was making money, other thought he was making it but that’s not the case, as his heart was filled with guilt. Jesus wanted to give him rest and he told him ‘ follow me ‘.
Jesus is interested in everyone’s peace, if he could pick interest in a task collector, an extortionist, he is interested in giving you peace. Jesus is interested in your well being, whatever guilt in mind he is ready to give you peace.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. If your work is not giving peace Jesus is asking you follow him, your rest is sure in Jesus, if you desire a better job he will give you. Rest is sure as you follow him. God will bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord, I am ready to follow you, give me rest on every side.
