Topic: COURAGE FOR A NEW ERA.
Text: Joshua 1: 6,7,9.
6: Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7: Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.
9: Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Joshua was to take over the position of leadership after the death of Moses, it was a beginning of new era. God has made several promises to the children of Isreal most especially the possession of the promise land. The journey to the promise land is not without confrontation with the Anakims, giants and strong enemies that wouldn’t want them to pass through.
The man that will lead people to the promise land needs proper orientation, God considered it necessary to speak with Joshua, and in 3 verses of one chapter, God was saying the same thing to Joshua, ‘ be strong and be of good courage ‘. God is committed to his words, he wouldn’t fail for any reason, but the challenges ahead of him can get him weary if he will not take courage.
This orientation is to prepare him for the challenges ahead of him. What was God saying here? I see God saying, ‘ the the fact that I have spoken does not mean there wouldn’t be challenges, you will encounter giants, strong men, challenges, you will fall the strong wall of Jericho, you will see the Jordan sea, just be strong, you have what it takes to overcome all. I will see you through.
This is the message is God is passing to everyone of us, every year will come with challenges but be strong I have fortify you for those challenges. I will not let you down, all you need is courage to stand on my words, don’t allow what you see make you doubt what I have told you.
Beloved, God has good promises for you for this coming year, they are great promises, he is ready to make you prosperous but you mustn’t allow what you see discourage you, just be courageous I will give good success and prosperity.
Look verse 5: powerful scripture: There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Nothing will conquer you in the new year just be courageous you will have good success. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord help me to be courageous, I will not be moved by what I see but by the word of God.
