Topic: TREADING THE WRONG PATH
Text: Isaiah 30:21 KJV
21- And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
The journey of life is a pathway to destiny. It is important to note that not all ways are right to destiny, there are wrong pathways as well that many tread to destiny.
Let’s consider Samson as a case study.
Samson was born with a definite purpose or destiny which is to begin the deliverance of Israel from the hands of the Philistines. He was anointed for this assigned destiny with an instruction that no razor must touch his head. (Judges 13:1-5)
In Judges 14:1-4, Samson saw a woman of the daughters of the Philistines and demanded his parents get her for him as wife, Samson’s parent were not happy with that decision, but verse 4 says it was God who moved Samson to take that decision to seek occasion against the Philistines for Samson to fulfil his destiny of delivering Israel out of the hands of the Philistines. The point to note in Judges 14:1-4 is that though Samson sought to marry a strange woman, he was still on the right path of destiny because God permitted him to do so. Eventually, the woman was not married to him but to another person.
In Judges 16:1, Samson began to tread on the wrong path of destiny out of the counsel of God. Samson began by fornicating with an harlot in Gaza, In Judges 16:4 Samson was in love with another strange woman of the daughters of the Philistines (This time around he was not moved by God). The love of Samson for this strange woman brought his downfall. He was shamed, mocked, reproached and blindfolded, he became a slave to his enemies until he prayed to God to give him a last chance to die with his enemies (Judges 16:23-30).
Dearly beloved, Samson died with his enemies while fulfilling his destiny because he treaded on the wrong pathway out of the counsel of God. Learn the following from Samson
* Seek God per time on steps you take in life while fulfilling your destiny
* Don’t assume that God will permit you to do or take a step or decision he once asked you to take.
* That you are fulfilling the purpose of God for your life is not a licence to sin in that purpose. (e.g The fact that God has chosen your partner for you to be married to is not a license to start defiling the bed). God bless you
