PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
19th November, 2024.
Topic: THE EMERGENCE OF MOSES … part 2.
Text: Exodus 2:1-3

1: And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
2: And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
3: And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.

If you are a good student of the bible you will agree with me that prophecies preceded the emergence of some great men, but that wasn’t the case with Moses, his emergence was recorded like that of an ordinary man. Look at verse 1 of our passage: And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.

Can you see that a man just took a woman, like when you say a man just proposed to a woman at random, and slept with her and she conceived. His birth was not a special event, it is simply a result of a common marriage proposal.

There was no holy matrimonious ceremony, no prophet or pastor prayed over his life.

Moses’ encounter with God at mount Horeb Exodus 3:1,2 and his response to the call of God is the power button of his emergence into greatness.
.
Moses had little knowledge about the God of Hebrews since all his life has been lived in Egypt before his encounter with God. God started the conversation by introducing himself to him Exodus 3:6.

Moses knew it will be difficult for the Israelites to believe him, because they knew he had no privilege of knowing the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. His education in Egypt made no room for teaching about the God of the Hebrews.

Of course there are many gods in Egypt, so, the question would have been which of the gods are you talking about? The generation of the Israelites he was going to minister to also knew little about God of their fathers because for a good number of years they have not been permitted to sacrifice unto their God. Hear what Moses said in Exodus 3:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?

It was a great task for Moses because he had little knowledge of the God of his fathers, but he saw Pharaoh in action many times. So, Moses was to deliver the message of the personality he knew little about to a demonic personality he had lived with for decades, it’s indeed a great task.

Moses had 3 challenges about this task;
1, The Israelites; how will they believe me?
2, Wicked Pharaoh.
3, He was a stammerer: Exodus 4:10. How was he going to convince the people. He needed to sound oratorical, coupled with that, God told him Pharaoh will not let them go easily.

Despite all of these Moses, yielded the call of God. His emergence as a great man in history is his obedience to the will of God. Obedience to God’s word and will brings out the best of a man.

When a man submits to the will of God, God makes the best of him, Moses became a wonder, Moses encountered God like no one ever did, some of the miracles God did through Moses were never repeated. Moses spoke with God face to face, Moses enjoyed God to the fullest, Moses enjoyed grace at the dispensation of law, God literally loaded Moses with his Spirit. God wouldn’t allow anyone speak against Moses, not even his elder sister.

I urge you to follow PREVAILING VOICE DAILY as I begin exposition on the topic ‘ AS I WAS WITH MOSES ‘ you will be richly blessed. God bless you.
