Topic: SECURING AN OPEN HEAVEN
Text: 2 Chronicles 7:13,14.
13: If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Let me start by giving the reason why heaven can be shut over a man.
Leviticus 26:18 And if in spite of all this you still will not listen and be obedient to Me, then I will chastise and discipline you seven times more for your sins.
19: And I will break and humble your pride in your power, and I will make your heavens as iron [yielding no answer, no blessing, no rain] and your earth [as sterile] as brass. Amplified.
When a man chooses to live in disobedience to God’s word, God will shut the heaven over his head, there will be no answer to prayer, no blessing, no rain etc . Many people wondered why life is unbearable, why things are not going on fine. The reason is simply because the heaven over them is shut and sin is the major reason why heaven is shut.
Back to our text; verse 13; If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, no answer to prayer, no blessing, no breakthrough, no progress, no prosperity
verse 14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Repentance from sin is the first step in securing an open heaven. That’s the first key in unlocking closed heaven, everyone who wants to see his or her heaven open must turn away from sin.
The first step is repentance from sin.
The second step is prayer, you must pray for your heaven to open, you must pray until the hand of God comes to unlock your heaven.
The third step is to seek the face of God. Some people think seeking the face of God is just prayer, no sir/ma, it’s beyond prayer, how do I know? Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Asking is prayer, seeking God is beyond praying, the full expression of that statement is seeking the face of God for his favour.
When you want someone’s favour you do everything to please him, to get God’s favour it involves following him, living righteously, it includes commitment to his business, dedication to him, getting involved in the work of God, being active in church, studying the Bible, evangelizing, encouraging others to serve God. You must be ready to please him in all your ways.
The good news is that God is set to open your heaven if you are ready to do his will. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord forgive every sin that shuts my heaven.
* Lord I am ready to do your will.
* I receive grace to please you in all my ways.
* Lord open my heaven.
* Bless the works of my hands
* Let there be showers of blessing upon my life in the name of Jesus.
