Topic: WHY SIT WE HERE? part 3.
Text: 2 Kings 7: 1-4
1: But Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord: thus says the Lord, Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.”
3: And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
4: If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
God involves men in carrying out his wish on earth. Immediately after God created man he commissioned him to be actively involved in his activities on earth. Let me put it this way; God delegated authority/responsibility to man.
The input of man then becomes absolutely important for the continuity of life. You see every time a man desires increase, progress, lifting, God expects him to play his part while he, God, plays is role.
I want to focus on the spiritual steps necessary in moving one’s forward. You need to understand that your progress must first of all be initiated in the spirit, it must be activated in the spirit. A lot of people think things just happen, their slogan is ‘ what will be will be ‘, that’s not true, there are propelling forces compelling things to happen. Any event, occurrence, either positive or negative is a product of a propelling force.
It is therefore important that if you must see things happen in your life you must exert spiritual energy, a lot of people are too weak in the spirit to push into their next level.
Our passage began with the prophesy through the mouth of Elisha. Samaria has experienced severe famine, 2 Kings chapter 6 will give you details, Elisha by the Spirit of the Lord changed Samaria’s situation by exerting a spiritual energy sufficient enough to turn their misfortune to fortune.
Man is empowered by God to change the mode of operation in his environment by exerting spiritual energy through prayer. You are meant to change the modus operandi (mode of operation) that is not in your favour by releasing spiritual energy through prayer. Remember that Elisha’s master Elijah did the same when he commanded rain not to fall and then again commanded abundance of rain. This is what God expects from every believer.
We changed accommodation sometimes ago and within our one week of stay in the new apartment, God opened my wife’s eyes, she saw me praying in one of the rooms and heard some strange forces saying, ‘ who is this man? Why has he come to disturb us? ‘. It is very likely they had not seen that kind of spiritual force before until our arrival.
Do you have constant challenges? Exert spiritual energy.
Do you have a long standing problem? Exert spiritual energy.
Are there forces of darkness or human beings against your life exert spiritual energy.
I have a slogan, ‘ When iron hit iron, one will bend ‘. No force of darkness; spirit or human can overpower you if you can pray.
The Lord said to me, I heard him in clear terms, ‘ As you pray, you will prevail. As you keep praying you keep prevailing ‘. God bless you.
