PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
17th September, 2023.
Topic: WORSHIPPING IN HOLINESS.
Text: Psalms 29:1,2.
1: Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength.
2: Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
Let’s take 2 dictionary meanings for worship:
1, Showing devotion for a deity.
2, A feeling of profound love and admiration for someone or deity.
The word ‘ worship ‘ is from the Hebrew word ‘ ‘ shachah ‘ meaning ‘ to bow down ‘. People worship different things but the worship given to God alone is called ‘ latria ‘ (English word)
The word latria is from the Greek word “latreuʹo” and “latreiʹa” convey the idea of rendering sacred service, rather than just an ordinary service. These words are used to describe the kind of service that is given to God, rather than any other entity.
Latria is a commandment from God, God frowns at worship given to any other deity or personality. Latria must be done in holiness and righteousness.
John speaking in Luke chapter 1 verses 74 and 75 said
74: That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,
75: In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
God demands our latria in holiness and righteousness as you demand food served in clean dishes and from clean environment.
FOUR BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR LATRIA.
1, Devotion of your time to God and his works.
2, It must be done in righteousness and holiness.
3, It must be given to God alone.
4, It is a lifetime obligation.
* Latria will bring you in close contact with God.
* It is the meeting point of humanity and divinity.
* It will launch you to the realm of the supernatural.
* You can give it anywhere, but God chose a latria centre called church. Matthew 16:18. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord, help me be faithful in giving Latria in Jesus name.
