Topic: SECURING HIS PRESENCE.part 4.
Text: Psalms 65:4.
4: Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
In everyone’s heart is a world of desires. Economists concluded that human wants are insatiable. Many people embarked on the journey of desires, acquiring and amassing so much to themselves and yet never gotten to the point of satisfaction.
There is a vacuum in the heart of everyone that only God can fill. The desire to have more, to expand, to exceed others, to be the best as led many to a state of unrest.
It will interest you to know that God made provision of rest for everyone who will accept it. Jesus speaking in Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
The rate at which people develop high blood pressure is high, and that emanating from the cares and worries about the things of this world.
Embracing the rest that comes from God made have available through his presence will bring you satisfaction. Our text is explicit, easy to understand: I love the scriptures just take a look at this, ‘ Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts … ‘ what does the Psalmist mean by this? Everyone that you choose and cause to draw close to you is blessed.
Everyone whose heart is with God, who draws close to God is blessed, It is a blessing to be close to God. That he may dwell in thy courts, your house, your presence. Everyone that is pious is blessed. Some people look at those who are committed to God and his works like doing too much, that’s not so, desire for God is the greatest thing a man can have.
If you are far from God, if you feel reluctant to pray, study the Bible, go to church, give to God is a sign that your heart is far from him. If you take no pleasure in serving the Lord as in giving your worship and dedication in a living church especially on Sundays, it’s an indication that your heart is far.
The later part of our text is the outcome of drawing close to God, it’s interesting, look at it here: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. That’s what everyone serving God genuinely has, ‘ satisfied with goodness ‘ . That’s what his presence does to us .
It is only in God we have satisfaction. Permit me to conclude here with my boss’s testimony when I was a banker. She observed that I don’t like missing church services, including mid-week service, and every mid-week service day I did go to her first thing in the morning to take permission to close early. One day she said to me, ‘ Yemi, do you know because of you, I became committed in church, in fact, I joined the choir, and the way I feel in his presence isn’t the way I feel elsewhere ‘.
There is joy and satisfaction in God”s presence. That’s the place we derive peace of mind. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord, cause me to draw close to you in Jesus name.
