Topic: SECURING HIS PRESENCE.part 2
Text: Jeremiah 29:13.
13: And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
In part 1, I did promise to share scriptures that talk about hunger for His Presence. Before I do that, let me stress here that the reason God made man is basically for relationship. He wants to share his presence with us, have you observed that in Eden God didn’t make a place of worship, Adam and Eve didn’t have a special place called worship centre or Church? The reason is because God’s presence was always in the garden.
Without man God wasn’t satisfied, he needed someone who could reason like him and look like him, it was that passion that led to the emergence of Adam and Eve. This is to mean that God himself wants us close to him. He enjoys our fellowship.
Look at this Genesis 3:8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. God was relating freely with man before his fall, Adams needed not to seek God, God made him and put him around so that he (God) could relate with him and that his presence will rob off on him (Adam).
Since the fall of man everyone who wants God must desire him. But the modus oparandi changed, now man have to seek him, there must be a desire for him before you can get him. Let’s take a look at those who encountered God in bible days.
Moses: Exodus 33:15 And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
David: Psalms 42:1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
Psalms 43:1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
Paul: Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.
Let me pause here with this; Psalms 63:8 My whole being follows hard after You and clings closely to You; Your right hand upholds me. Amp. No wonder God called David a man after his heart. Just take a critical look at the above passage, look at this ‘ My whole being follows hard after You ‘. This is what David meant ‘ my entirety, totality, follows hard after you ‘. There is nothing left of me, everything about me follows hard after you.
I was expecting David to say ‘ my whole being follows you ‘, but he didn’t say that, rather he said, ‘ my whole being follows hard after you ‘. Do you notice the word ‘ hard ‘? This is like saying, ‘ I am addicted to God ‘. It’s a point of no return in God. And whenever a man gets to that point in God, God lavishes grace on him. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord, help to desire more of you in Jesus name.
