Topic: SECURING HIS PRESENCE.
Text: Jeremiah 29: 13.
13: And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
The first point to be discussed here is the fact many people mistake prayer for securing God’s presence. Of course, prayer is a medium for securing his presence, but not all who prays secure his presence.
Let me come out this way; we all agree that for a student to pass his or her exams he or she must study, but not all students who study pass their exams. Just as there is a level of reading and studying that guarantees success in examinations, so also, there is a level of prayer and praise that launches us into his presence.
Many people, Christians inclusive, don’t actually want his presence in the first place, all they want is to get their needs met, nothing more. The word ‘ pray ‘ actually means ‘ ask ‘. So, many people just ask what they want.
The word ‘ pray ‘ comes from the old french word ‘ preier ‘ meaning ‘ to pray ‘ with it’s latin root word ‘ precari ‘ meaning ‘ ask, beg, or entreat ‘ And that is the level many people stop; just asking God to meet their needs. It’s really not bad to be at that level, but it’s better to press further to securing God’s presence.
His presence provides all that we need, human wants are insatiable, but his presence brings satisfaction.
The first point in Securing His Presence is that your must desire His Presence. Many people seems not to have that desire, Christians inclusive.
You must have a hunger for God and His Presence. I will show you scriptural passages that talk about this in part 2. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord, help me to desire your presence in Jesus name.
