Topic: UNRAVELING THE MYSTERY OF WORSHIP.
Text: John 4:23,24.
23: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
There is more to worship beyond the usual understanding.
There is a spirit in every man called ‘ the spirit of man ‘, some of us call it ‘ Spirit-man ‘. Every man tends to worship something. I think it will be good to check the dictionary meaning of worship, look at it here: a feeling of profound love and admiration. Another word for worship is adoration.
Every man adores something or someone why? It is because the spirit-man is made for worship, that’s the purpose God made it. There is no one who does not adore something. In every man is a profound love and admiration for something.
Why does the spirit of every man desires worship? Here is the answer; as food is to the body so is worship to the spirit. The spirit of every man receives strength from worship, how do I prove this? Look for any worshipper either idol worshipper or worshipper of the living God, he or she appears powerful after worship though his or her body is not changed the spirit within has been touched and strengthened.
The spirit-man of an idol worshipper is possessed by an evil spirit(s) while the spirit-man of the worshipper of the almighty God is possessed by the Holy Spirit. You will see the difference in their lifestyles.
Let me give you a scripture to buttress this; Daniel 5:11 There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers. Note the phrase ‘holy gods‘ The queen mother (that’s the person speaking in the passage) was use to idolatry, but she could recognize that the spirit in Daniel was difference from the spirit in the rest of them that’s the reason She said ,‘… in whom is the spirit of the holy gods‘ she used gods to represent God because she was used to worshipping gods of Babylon.
Let me pause here by saying; what you worship determines what you are possessed of.
As you worship God he gives strength to your spirit, you will receive power to overcome life’s challenges. I will continue from here in part 2. God bless you.
