PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
31st December, 2022.
Topic: THE MASTER KEY FOR 2023.
Text: Isaiah 38:1-5.
1: In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
2: Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord,
3: And said, Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
4: Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying,
5: Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
As the year is going to an end, a lot of people hold prayer sessions, and meetings with fasting to approach the new year.
Every year comes with blessings, breakthrough, lifting etc. Blessings flow with time and season. every year brings opportunities.
To access the provisions of heaven there is a criterion, I will unravel that through our text. Our text is a common bible event, for God to have announced the death of Hezekiah through his Prophet, Isaiah, is the best God can do for any man, let me analyse the prophecy, but before then let’s talk about the sickness.
The sickness would have been a blessing to Hezekiah even if God didn’t send Isaiah, it is tragic for someone to die suddenly, he or she wouldn’t have opportunity to amend or repent of his or her sin. Those who die slowly have ample opportunity to settle with their maker before giving up the ghost, so Hezekiah being sick unto death is a blessing in disguise, he would have had opportunity to repent.
I perceive Hezekiah believe that God wouldn’t or shouldn’t allow him die that early because of their relationship, and God saw that he wasn’t ready to die and had not put his house in order so he sent Isaiah to him.
You see how God cherished his relationship with Hezekiah, let’s analysis it:
1, God wouldn’t allow Hezekiah died suddenly.
2, He wouldn’t allow him died without putting his house in order.
3, He wanted Hezekiah to tidy up his life before dying.
I perceive Hezekiah wasn’t getting the message that it was time to go home with the infliction of terminal sickness, God willing to help him, he spoke in clear terms through Isaiah, ‘ prepare your house for it is the right for you to die ‘.
God must have shown death to him in dreams and visions and he would have counted them as bad dreams, so he sent Prophet Isaiah, a prophet whose prophecy never fails, so that Hezekiah could take the matter of his death serious, but Hezekiah wouldn’t take such news, but rather turned his back again the prophet and sought the face of God.
From the way the bible recorded the event this all that Hezekiah said according to our text And said, Remember [earnestly] now, O Lord, I beseech You, how I have walked before You in faithfulness and in truth, with a whole heart [absolutely devoted to You], and have done what is good in Your sight. And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Amplified.
God approved his claim, God didn’t argue with him, or prove him wrong, but rather felt Hezekiah was right. His walk with God granted him favour before God. That’s the master key our ‘ walk with God ‘, can you ask God to bless you according to how you have walked with him? Many people can’t but Hezekiah could.
You see many preachers have taught about mercy in a wrong way that makes many people live their lives carelessly and claim it is just mercy that I need.
Hezekiah lived a disciplined life that won him God’s approval, with careless living we can’t get anywhere with God, we can’t get God’s approval, for our progress to be approved by God in 2023 we must walk with him with a perfect heart. Fasting and prayer is good but our walk with him is most important. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Help me to walk with you with a perfect heart in Jesus name.
