Topic: UNTAINTED…. Part 2.
Text : Philippians 1:10,11.
10: For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.
11: May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God. NLT.
Apostle Paul wants the christians at Philippi to understand what really matters, please note that the message is not just for the christians at Philippi but to all christians.
Why should they know what really matters? This is because there are many things sufficient to make one loss focus of destiny and eternity.
A lot of people have lost focus of their destinies to distractions. Many glittering things have diverted many people’s focus. Many christians are been carried away by the affairs this world to lose focus of eternity. Chasing mundane things won’t give us eternal value. Anyone who must make impact in this generation must understand what really matters.
Let’s look at Luke 10:39-42.
39: And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
40: But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41: And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
It’s unfortunate that Martha did not what actually matters, she carried away by too many things. That’s the state of many people today, no pursuit of things that have eternal value.
Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet to receive from him.
Fellowship, prayer, listening to teaching of God’s word, seeking to please God, those are the things that value eternal. God bless you.
