Text: Ephesians 1:11,12.

11: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

The major reason why some Christians misbehave is because they do not understand the purpose of their calling. When we mention ‘ calling ‘ many people think is calling to be a Pastor, Evangelist etc, no, we all are called out of sin into righteousness 2 Corinthians 6:17, called from darkness into light 1 Peter 2:9.

Paul was a detailed preacher, permit me to say here that you can’t be a fulfilled Christian if you don’t listen to a detailed teacher of the word of God. Many people just want miracles and prophesies, they are not ready to pattern their lives in accordance to God’s will and purpose for their lives.

As a detailed teacher Apostle Paul wouldn’t want his listeners to be ignorant of their calling, so, in our text today he tells us of the purpose of that calling.

Verse 11 is deep; it talks about we having an inheritance in God which was predestined according to the purpose of the his will. I will expatiate on this later in this series. Look at verse 12 in Amplified version; So that we who first hoped in Christ [who first put our confidence in Him have been destined and appointed to] live for the praise of His glory.
Living to the praise of his glory, that’s the purpose of our calling.

Why did Paul have to stress that? Because it is necessary to build the consciousness in them. We must be conscious to live to the praise of his glory. Our lives must bring him glory.

It must be registered in your spirit that your life must bring him glory. God bless you.

* Help me Lord to live a life that will bring you glory in Jesus name.
