Topic: COUNSELS TO THE EPHESIANS. Part 6
Text: Ephesians 1:9-10.
9: Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
God’s ultimate plan is clearly stated in our passage here. Why does the writer state in verse 9 that ‘ having made known to unto us ?’ God as a supreme being needs not inform us of his plans, he isn’t answerable to us, the revelation of his plans is of his own volition, a product of his love for us.
He wouldn’t want to keep us in ignorance of what he does with our lives and eternity, so he made known unto us the mystery of his will.
What is the mystery of his will? Verse 10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him. The gathering of all things in his Christ, all things in heaven and on earth. It then means that Christ then becomes the centre of all things.
Christ is now the determinant of all things which will be gathered in one. To be among this gathering, you have to be in Christ, rooted in Christ since he is the only reason for this gathering.
Our commitment to Christ then come to questioning, faithfulness to the business of Christ. First, salvation through Christ is the basis and the first of all, then our loyalty to Christ and his purpose of dying for humanity.
Losing your faith in Christ is losing your place in the gathering. God bless you.
* Help me not to lose my place in you Lord.
