Topic: COUNSELS TO THE EPHESIANS. Part 4.
Text: Ephesians 1:5-6.
5: For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [because it pleased Him and was His kind intent]—
6: [So that we might be] to the praise and the commendation of His glorious grace (favor and mercy), which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. Amplified.
Paul wouldn’t want the believers at Ephesus and all Christians be ignorant of their calling, many believers have strayed away because of inability to understand their calling.
God called and chose us as his children in accordance to the purpose of his will, what is the purpose of his will? Verse 6 gives us answer to that; [So that we might be] to the praise and the commendation of His glorious grace (favor and mercy), which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
Our calling is meant to bring him praise, our everyday living is meant to bring praise to his name. Permit me to use this illustration; several years ago when I was working in a commercial bank my mum told me, ‘ I am happy each morning I see you dressed corporately to work ‘, that’s because that was giving her praise.
As we want our children to bring us praise by living a good and acceptable life, by coming home with God results from school, and getting good jobs so also does God want us bring him praise.
He called us that we might earn him praise. A good life, a responsible life, a holy living will bring joy and praise to God.
We must be committed at this; bringing praise to is name. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Father, let my life earn you praise always in Jesus name.
