PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
22th February, 2022.
Topic: COUNSELS TO THE EPHESIANS. Part 3.
Text: Ephesians 1: 4 & 5.
4: Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
5: God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. NLT.
This is a deep teaching that will impact your Christian Life greatly. Glory to God who gives us inspirations.
In part 2; I did explain what it means to be chosen, let’s press further a little; verse 4 of our text also tells us why he chose us. Look at this in the same verse 4; and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
This is clearly stated; we are chosen but we still living with the unchosen and yet we must remain living holy. This is like Samuel living with Hophni and Phinehas: (sons of Belial) while he lived holy with God’s presence in the same environment.
It is like living in the environment of sinners and yet stay pure. Hear Jesus in John 17:15: I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. Chosen yet living in the world and must not be corrupt by the evil in the world.
The environment has not changed yet our lifestyle must change, he chose also to be holy and blameless in his sight. 2 Corinthians 6:17 will help us here: Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you. NLT That’s the Holiness
Look at 1 Peter 1:15 and 16.
15: But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
16: For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” NLT.
Can you notice the word ‘ chose ‘ again? He chose us so that we can be holy.
If holiness is not possible then it is a waste of time and divine resources choosing us. He knows we can be holy, he himself gives us grace for holiness; to live above sin. He only requires our willingness, commitment, and dedication to holiness. You can live holy. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord, I receive grace to live a holy life: life without sin in Jesus name.
