Feb 15, 2022

6th April, 2021.
Topic: Judges 11:1-6.

1: Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah.
2: And Gilead’s wife bare him sons; and his wife’s sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father’s house; for thou art the son of a strange woman.
3: Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.
4: And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel.
5: And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob:
6: And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.

First of all, I want to appreciate everyone who made out time to celebrate with me either online or onsite on 5th of April. I feel honoured. Grace be multiplied onto you.

Life obviously is not without challenges, somethings tend to contend with our progress. The character in our passage had challenges from childhood, he was stigmatized because his mother was an harlot. That couldn’t have been his fault, but he suffered for it.

Sometimes, we really don’t have control over somethings especially the things we grew to meet it our lives as in the case of Jephthah. Some just resign to fate and allow the circumstances they find themselves determine their progress in life.

Challenges usually post limitations on our ways to destiny, people of great mind don’t give in to the situation around them rather, they pull through and break the barriers to move to the next level.

Jephthah is one of those who wouldn’t sit back and allow limitations limit him. It is actually not by his power, he simply hook up to God, not by merely professing to love God, but in actual sense he loved God.

Relationship with God is the only secret. It is the source of our strength, we got power to prevail over the challenges as we stay in His PRESENCE.

I have learnt and practice this over the years, and I see God breaking limitations around my life. Challenges can make life difficult, but as we stay in His PRESENCE we receive grace sufficient to conquer challenges.

It is our staying with God that brings light on our dark path. When a man stays in His Presence, every door that needs to open to him opens.

Have you ever imagined how Moses a stammerer did communicate to the Israelites, hundreds of thousand of people. The challenge is not what to say, but how to say it and the time taken to say it.
Paul the Apostle wouldn’t allow the infirmity in his body limit his calling.

The reason they prevailed over their challenges is not far fetched, look at it here. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Limitations cannot limit you when you stay with God. Quiet time is key, wait in prayer and worship, studying God’s, the Bible, and abstaining from sin will give you strength to prevail over your challenges. God bless you.

* I receive grace to prevail over challenges confronting my life in Jesus name.
