PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
15th April, 2021.
Topic: THE FAITH OF THE CENTURION
Text: Matthew 8:10.

10: When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Our mid-week service was great last night as the Holy Spirit instructed me to talk about the faith of the Centurion. It all started yesterday morning as I share the scriptures with my wife and children, the message was another the Centurion.

It is not in my culture to preach with sermon notes, I simply trust the Holy Spirit for what to share, as usual, as I was trusting him for what to share last night, he impressed in my spirit THE FAITH OF THE CENTURION. And this morning again he instructed my to do a series of teaching on the subject.

Let’s find out who a Centurion is: dictionary meaning; in ancient Rome he is a leader of 100 soldier.

When you study your Bible and you don’t give attention to details you will miss some vital points. The man that came to Jesus was a leader of one hundred soldiers. By training he should be brutal, people deing shouldn’t be strange to him since he knew himself could die anytime.

Note that this is a true life story; it is not a parable. The point I want to emphasize here is the fact he was kind enough to have travelled to see Jesus for his servant in pains, the sick person was not his son or his family member, but mere servant, that his blood may not be required from him.

As a leader of 100 soldiers, he must be a busy man, yet he heard time to go visit Jesus for his servant. He could have sent some of his men to invite Jesus to his house but he chose to go himself.

The humility of this man his exceptional. His Kindness is second to none, he probably would have nothing to lose if the servant die.

The Centurion knew that the men he would have sent to Jesus might exercise his kind of faith. He obviously had a mind for people around him, he wouldn’t want anyone around him to suffer.

Another point to note is his reverence for Jesus look at it in verse 8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. Note the statement ‘ Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof ‘. He reverend Jesus: you are too holy to come under my roof, my home is too small for someone like you, who am I that I should stress you to come to my house? I am suppose to come to you and that’s the reason I didn’t send my men.

Another man in his position would have sent some soldiers to bring Jesus to his house, rather he chose to go through the stress to see Jesus. It is not always easy to see Jesus because of the crowd that was following him, it must be a stressful process but the Centurion went through it. We have have some men who far from the level of the Centurion in our days, but will not go to church because of traffic, but stay in traffic hours to and fro work.

3 things to learn from the Centurion in this part
1, Kindness.
2, Humility.
3, The quest for Jesus.

I have got powerful inspiration to share in this series, just follow through it will bless you.
