Topic: WHAT THE LORD REQUIRED OF THEE…Part 2.
Text: Micah 6:8.
8: He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
God is requiring somethings from us brethren, you must understand that in every relationship parties involved make demands. Many times we pray but we are not careful to know what God is asking from us.
Every relationship is give and take, from the side of our Lord he is only asking for things that will in turn favour us. In part 1, I did justice to ‘ but to do justly ‘, let’s look at ‘ TO LOVE MERCY ‘, this is another requirement from the Lord. God himself is merciful and he expects us to show mercy.
Look at Psalms 1:1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. NLT. Wickedness is of the devil not of God. Showing mercy is an attribute of God and every child of God must follow suit. Mercy is showing kindness to others, helping people in need. It is a sin to close your eyes to the cries of the needy.
A compassionate soul has the Lord blessings, a wicked soul is cursed by the Lord, when you are in need and you seek God’s face, you are invariably seeking for his mercy, now look at the condition he gives in Matthew 5:7 for obtaining his mercy: Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
You must be compassionate about others if you must continue to enjoy his mercy. He showed us mercy first at the point of giving our lives to Christ, but for us to continue to enjoy his mercy we must show mercy to others.
Forgiveness goes with mercy, you must release everyone who has offended you. You must help the needy without conditions if you want to continue to enjoy his mercy.
Look for someone to show mercy today and always and you can be sure that God’s mercy will not seize over your life. God bless you.
