Topic: WHEN MERCY SPEAKS…Part 13
Text: Romans 9:15KJV
15 he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion
In part 12, we discussed that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hand of the living God according to Hebrews 10:30 using the true life story in our contemporary days as a case study. Today we want to discuss what can be done if a man falls into God’s judgement here on earth.
The only thing that can be done when a man falls into the hand of God is to intercede for mercy, paradventure God may have mercy because he told Moses clearly from our scriptural text above that “I will have mercy on whom i will have mercy and i will have compassion on whom i will have compassion”
When Israel sinned against God in Numbers 13, murmuring against Moses when the 12 spies brought back report from Canaan land, God was angry and was set to destroy the entire nation of Israel promising Moses that he would raise a greater nation from him, Moses interceded for Israel and God had mercy and had a change of mind
Abraham also interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 18-19, when God was set to destroy the land because of their sin, he would have prevailed to have God showed mercy if God had found ten righteous persons in the land, but because there were not up to ten roghteous persons in the land, God destroyed Sodom ans Gomorrah, how be it, Lot and his household were saved because Abraham interceded
When Moses sinned against God in Numbers 20 and God pronounced judgement upon him, Moses pleaded with God to reverse the judgement but God did not, unfortunately, no one else interceded for Moses not even the people of Israel which he was leading and was dieing for.
Beloved, if intercession can be raised for that man, that leader or even that nation under the judgement of God, God may show mercy, let’s learn to intercede and pray for our leaders that the mercy of God will sustain them. God bless you
* Father, i pray that your mercy will prevail in my life.
