Topic: TO BRETHREN AT COLOSSE… part 2
Text: Colossians 1: 22,23.
22: Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.
23: But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it. NLT.
Apostle Paul wrote the Christians at Colosse to bring to their consciousness the things God has done for them through Christ Jesus, the message to the Colossians Christians is for all Christians.
Verse 22 of chapter 1 talks about our reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ, it is important you know that though God loves sinners yet, they are not in relationship with Him, His love is demonstrated though the sacrifice of Christ: His suffering and death on the cross at Calvary. Our embrace of His love brings us into reconciliation with Him.
By reconcilation we are brought into His presence and made holy and blameless without fault. Paul considered it important and essential to bring this to our consciousness so that we won’t take with levity the sacrifice of Christ. It is this reconciliation that places us far about principalities and powers, above the angels and above any creature in this world, this reconciliation qualifies us to sit side by side with Jesus.
Paul considered it absolutely important to charge us in verse 23: ‘ But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it…..’ I see Paul saying, ‘ don’t be too careless to lose your belief about the process of your reconciliation with God, rather stand firmly in it.
‘ Don’t drift away from the assurance you received ‘, he needed to say this because there are tendencies that at some point some people will be in doubt due to pressure around their lives, they might possibly lose the assurance of the blessed heritage and hope.
No matter what happens around us we must not lose our assurance of salvation and eternity. Give all diligence to keep your faith. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Help me Lord to keep standing firm in Jesus name.
