Topic: NOT WILLING TO SERVE
Text: Matthew 15:8-9KJV
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
Willingness is defined as the quality or state of being prepared to do something. It is the readiness to be committed to and carry out a task.
Everyone is willing to be blessed, everyone is willing to receive blessings from God. There is no one that practically does not want God’s blessings.
Man has always placed himself in a position to receive at all times from God, he understands that the blessings of God makes one rich without adding sorrow, he understands that when he prays God answers and when he asks, God responds. And so when he is sick, he runs and cries to God for healing, when he is helpless he looks to heavens for help, when he is hungry, he cries to God for divine provision, when he is in need he cries to God for supply of his needs. Many people and even christians belong to this category who are ready and willing to receive from God, if there is anything this category care about its all about themselves and nothing more. If God was to release hundredth-fold of blessings they wouldn’t mind receiving them all to themselves. Their willingness is only in what God can give them and in what God can use others to give them and nothing more.
They lack commitment to God and to God’s work, they are not willing to serve God or be an instrument of God to reach out to others, they have zero willingness to spiritual matters, or matters that concern the kingdom of God. Jesus described them in Matthew 15:8-9
“8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
Beloved, do you belong to this category of men, do you seek only for what God can give you and nothing more, are you only willing to receive God’s blessings and not ready to serve that God to whom you seek to be blessed. Think on these things…. God bless you
