PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
7th October, 2020.
Topic: EXPECTATION ACTUATES EXPERIENCE.
Text: 2 Kings 7:1,2.

1: Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
2: Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

When experience is contrary to God’s promises it is important you know that God’s word is potent enough to reverse ugly experiences.
Let me come out by saying that our lives respond to words, situations and circumstances respond to words. Our present situations are products of past spoken words.

Many times the circumstances and situations appear bigger in opposite direction of the word of God, the things people face appear real to them than what they expect. You must have heard someone said, ‘ I believe in reality ‘, ‘ I am only sure of what I see now, not what is coming ‘. The man in our passage could not believe the word of God through Prophet Elisha because of past experiences in the land, here is his statement in verse 2 ‘ might this thing be? Most times when people expect sometime within them they ask question like the officer : might this thing be?

Sometimes the gravity of the problem propels such question. This happens when they look at the extent of damage or the duration of time for the problem to be solved.

Having access to God’s word is a divine privilege, placing your judgement of a matter or problem above the word of God is an exercise of doubt.

When we stand on the promises of God no matter what happens his word changes our experiences to pleasant ones, it is important we hold on to God’s word no matter what happens.

Doubting God’s word is doubting God, It is dangerous to doubt God in an atmosphere of the holy Spirit. The officer couldn’t enjoy the blessings that came upon the land because he couldn’t imagine that by tomorrow a measure of fine flour can be sold for a shekel, the timing is too short by human reasoning so, he imagined and said ‘ might this thing be? ‘. When your imagination can’t believe God’s word it is a serious problem, believing God is not through our senses but purely an act of faith, evidences to prove that what we believe will happen are not seen, but purely because God’s word never fail.

It is unfortunate for the officer, he spoke in contradiction to God’s word, based on the past experiences in the land and he was trampled to death as the word of God was being fulfilled.

Whatever God says is superior to whatever happens, believe his words and you will experience transformation. God bless you.

PRAYER.
* As we wait upon the Lord today, claim God’s promises for your life.
