Topic: WHEN MERCY SPEAKS…Part 6
Text: Romans 9:15KJV
15 he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion
Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. Mercy does have a voice and mercy also speaks.
In part 5, we discussed about what mercy speaks which are forgiveness, justification, freedom, e.t.c Today we want to discuss about judgement.
One of the definition of judgement that suit our purpose of discussion is that judgement is a misfortune or calamity viewed as a divine punishment. Just as mercy speaks, judgement also speak, infact mercy speaks because judgement is speaking, the voice of mercy is heard, to silent the voice of judgement. Judgement speaks when:
* Sin speaks: The voice of judgement is evident when sin speaks, sin cries for judgement over any life. In Genesis 18:20-21
20 And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; 21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.”
From the passage above, the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah cried to God in heaven, their sins were constantly crying and unto God for vengeance and judgement over the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah. So judgement speaks because sin cries for judgement over a life.
* Devil speaks: Judgement speaks over a life when the devil speaks. In Jude verse 9,
“Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.”
The devil was contending for the body of Moses, he wanted to take Moses over to his side, he was agitating for judgement over Moses, wrestling with an angel of God over the body of Moses until the angel rebuked him. So when judgement speaks, it mostly likely that the devil is speaking.
Dearly beloved, sin and it’s master the devil speak judgement over the lives of their victim, and when judgement prevails the result is terrible. I prayed that judgement will not prevail over you in Jesus Name.
* Father, do not let judgement prevail over my life in Jesus Name.
