Topic: WHEN MERCY SPEAKS…Part 4
Text: Romans 9:15KJV

15 he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion

Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. Mercy does have a voice and mercy also speaks.

In part three, we said the authority with which mercy speaks over judgement is from the mouth of our Lord Jesus Christ, that is mercy prevails over any life when Jesus speaks. Today we want to discuss another source of power with which mercy speaks.

The authority with which mercy speaks over judgement also comes from the Almighty God.

God is full of mercy, so much that the Psalmist use a whole chapter of Psalms 136 to write that God’s mercy endures forever

Psalm 136:1 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever

Ephesians 2:4 puts it that God is rich in mercy

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, who.”

Now from our scriptural text above, God declared to Moses that he will have mercy on whom he chooses to have mercy, it means when God decides to have mercy upon anyone, judgement over such a person will cease.

In 1st Chronicles 21, David provoked God to anger when he did headcount to know the population of Israelites in the land and so God gave him three options of punishment to choose from. David choose the last option which was three days of death from an angel. As the angel of death began to move in the land on day one of the three days, killing people in response to the judgement overing over the land for the sin of David, God looked down from heaven and had mercy and God spoke that the angel should stop as recorded in verse 15

“And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the Lord beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.”

So, If God chooses to show mercy, it does not matter the justification of that judgement, the judgement must cease and stop. It does not matter the railing accusations from the accuser of brethren, it does not matter the cry of Judgement from sin over that person, when God chooses to be merciful judgement disappears and even the devil becomes silent.

In Jude verse 9, when devil was contending with an angel Michael for the body of Moses, devil brought a railing accusation to claim the body of Moses, but because God has choose to be merciful, the angel rebuked the devil to be able to win the body of Moses from the judgement of the devil.

Beloved, I pray that the mercy of God will speak over every judgement against your life in Jesus Name

PRAYER:
* Father, show me your mercy, let judgement cease over my life and let the devil be silent in Jesus Name
