Topic: REVELATION OF HELL.
Text: Luke 16:24-29.
24: “The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’
25: “But Abraham said to him, ‘Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish.
27: “Then the rich man said, ‘Please, Father Abraham, at least send him to my father’s home.
28: For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so they don’t end up in this place of torment.’
29: “But Abraham said, ‘Moses and the prophets have warned them. Your brothers can read what they wrote.’ NLT.
Many people thought that this passage is a parade, even if it is, Jesus never spoke a word outside reality, he spoke and speaks the words of life, but it is not a parable, how did I know this? He started the by saying, ‘ there was a certain rich man…in verse 19. ‘…and there was a certain beggar….in verse 20 ‘ this means there was a particular time this event happened.
Jesus could see activities in hell because he is God, people on Earth wouldn’t have known what happened to both of them after death, Jesus is all knowing, he knows the aftermath of everyone. Jesus made this known to us that is the reason it is titled THE REVELATION OF HELL.
Let’s analyse the activities there;
Take note of the sentence ‘ I am in anguish in these flames ‘, this is the statement of the rich man, the statement is in present tense, that is the statement of everyone in hell because there is no past tense in hell. They continue forever in pains.
You will notice that the rich man was begging for water, but he was denied, that is the state of everyone in hell, there is no mercy in hell. His request was not granted.
Look at verse 28: For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so they don’t end up in this place of torment. NLT.
Beloved, this is what is on the lips of everyone in hell, if God open your eyes to see your late relatives who couldn’t make it to heaven they have this same message on their lips, ‘ please warn every member of the family not to come to where we are ‘. Your ancestors who couldn’t make it to heaven are crying loud hoping that you will hear them, warning you not to come to hell.
Why didn’t the rich man pray for himself but want his relatives to be warned? It is simply because he knows that (please remember that there is no past tense in hell) it is too late for him, he knows his soul is lost forever.
Everyone in hell has a message for his or her loved ones, ‘ please don’t come to where I am .’
Give your life to Christ and live holy. Hell is real, don’t lose your soul to hell like the rich man.
PRAYER.
* Save my soul Lord.
* Help me Lord not to lose my soul to hell in Jesus name.
