PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
16th August 2020
Topic: COMMITTED TO SERVE…Part 2
Text: Joshua 24:15KJV

15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Commitment is the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. It also means a pledge or undertaking towards a cause. Service to God without any doubt requires commitment. God loves commitment because he himself is committed.

We did said in part one that God is always committed to his work, which was evident in the time of creation working for six days non-stop to rest on the seventh day, likewise, God is committed to the gathering of his people that where two or three are gathered in his name, he will be in their midst. Now if we say, we are God’s children, then we must be exactly like our Father.

God our Father, wants us to be like him in many things, he wants us to have the mind of Christ as the scripture says in Phillipians 2:5 saying

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus”.

The mind of Christ of course among many things is a mind of commitment to his Father works, a commitment to the kingdom assignment and the kingdom business. In other words, one of the things God wants us to be like him as his children is in our commitment to his business.

Reading through the scriptures, Jesus was committed to God’s service, two scriptures that emphasis this are:

John 4:34 “Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work”

This scriptures above, was Jesus’ words unto his disciples, they were words of commitment to his Father’s work, prioritising that his Father’s work is as important to him as food, not only to do them but to finish them. He did not stop there he went further in John 9:4 saying

“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work”

Here Jesus was saying, doing and finishing his Father’s business was not just the great deal, but in addition, the work must be done timely (that is commitment) because there will come a time when no one can work.

Beloved, God our Father was committed to his own work, Jesus our Father’s first born was deeply committed to the Kingdom assignment, what about us? Have you been committed to God’s work? Are you committed to the Kingdom business? Will you be committed to serve? Remember, the night comes when no man can work, think on these things… God bless you.

PRAYER:
* Father, let me have this mind of Christ to be committed to the Kingdom business in Jesus Name.
