Topic: OVERCOMING BY TESTIMONY.part2
Text: Psalms 46:1
1: God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. NLT.
God is always there in time of trouble, man has the tendency of feeling the absence of God when trouble comes. It appears sometimes like God had left, while he is present.
To the armies of Israel it was like God was not around to save them from Goliath. Only one man was terrifying a whole nation. That is how it looks sometimes, you look helpless for just one challenge.
You must have heard someone said, ‘ if I can just come out of this ‘, but as the problem was not letting him go he feels lonely and helpless, that was the experience of the armies of Israel.
They were all worried, King Saul (the tallest man in Israel) inclusive. But when David came there was calmness in the territory. The enemy terrifies a territory until he who carries God’s presence treads the land.
How I did know that David carried God’s presence? Look 1Samuel 16:15 So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah. NLT. David knew God was with him, he testified to that, read what he told Saul in 1 Samuel 17:32 “Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!”NLT
His testimonies about what God has done through him is a proof of God’s presence in his life.
Sometimes challenges try to sound louder that your testimony, but like David you must PERSIST (I emphasised this yesterday, in part 1, read it up if you missed it). You must not allow your challenges to sound louder that your testimonies.
Goliath was known by his testimonies of victory of the wars he fought, but David was unknown though he had testimonies too, if they had watched him killed a lion or a bear they might have not doubted him in the first place, but they didn’t know, he kept telling them his testimonoies and ensured his testimonies sounded louder than that of the enemy.
Let me give a practical example here: a cancer patient must have heard a lot about cancer: the rate of death, the pains, the chemotherapy, the cost of treatment. They are all testimonies of cancer. Doctors can tell the patient how cancer killed that person, and that person and that person. What is suppose to be the testimony of the cancer patient? Of course, what God has done for him or her in the past.
As Saul and others were magnifying Goliath, I see David saying, ‘ you all don’t know how God has helped me in the past, if it was once, I would have said it was luck or probably the animal was sick, that’s the reason it was easy for me to kill it, but I killed a lion and a bear, that’s not luck, that’s God, that same God is still with me, I talked with him before leaving home ‘.
When some people receive miracle, they feel like it is normal or luck, the fact that it happened easily doesn’t make it easy or cheap, some people died through same problem.
Always remember that God has helped you in the past, and he will always help you. Keep sharing your testimonies, they will give birth to more. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Thank you because you have always been there for me, and you will never leave me.
