PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
14th August, 2020.
Topic: OVERCOMING BY TESTIMONY.
Text: Revelation 12:11

11: And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]. Amplified

God has done some great things for us in the past, when we are in our challenging time it is important we call to remembrance the greatness and goodness of God.

The children of Israel were punished in the wilderness because they easily forgot what God has done in the past and kept complaining about their challenges. This is like forgetting the good a friend has done, and finding fault in him when he is not forth coming in time of trouble.

The victory of David began with his testimonies, Goliath had track record of victory in all battles, and by his testimonies he was a threat to the neighboring countries, hear what King Saul said about him in 1Samuel 17:33 “Don’t be ridiculous!” Saul replied. “There’s no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You’re only a boy, and he’s been a man of war since his youth.” NLT. That was the testimony of Goliath.

For David to conquer he needed to share his testimonies too, hear what he said in 1 Samuel 17: 34 But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock,
35: I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death.
36: I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God. NLT.

The testimony of David in New Living Translation began with ‘ but David persisted, look at the dictionary meaning of persisted: be in an unchanged stated for a long time. This means David had unchanged mindset for victory.

I see King Saul telling him, ‘ Goliath has killed many people, you are just a boy ‘, David persisted, ‘ I am sure of what I am saying, ‘ I will kill this man ‘, Saul would have added, ‘ before you were born Goliath has been conquering battles ‘, but David persisted, ‘ I know what I am saying, I can finish this man by the grace of God ‘.

The Chiefs in the palace of Saul would have tried to discourage David, but David persisted, saying, ‘ I will soon be back let me go ‘. Saul and his Chiefs would have concluded, ‘ okay, let’s allow him to go, but we must fortify him, so, they brought the armour of Saul, that should be one of the best in his kingdom, to protect him, but the armour was not necessary for the victory, all that was needed is David’s testimonies .

Your testimony of what God has done in the past will secure your victory in the current battle. As David persisted that God will always deliver him, so must you persist, look verse 47 The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the Lord be with you!” NLT.

God is ever faithful, as you share the testimonies of the things he has done, he will do more. God bless you.

PRAYER.
* Look into your life and remember what God has done, share the testimony and you will get more.
