Topic: ACTIVATING YOUR VICTORY.
Text: 1 John 5:4,5.
4: For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5: Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
Life’s battle have solution in Christ, every child of God is a potential Victor over life’s battle. It is not that he will give us victory, rather he has given us victory, how do I know? John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Jesus’ statement here is expressed in past participle, which means he has already given us victory.
Please note some vital points here;
1, He is not contemplating giving us victory.
2, He is not promising us victory.
3, He has already given us victory before our battles start.
This is like a father keeping money in the bank for his son for the time of need before the need arises, it is like preparing a great army for a small battle.
Our victory is provided the way our salvation is provided, just as every sinner gets salvation once he or she surrenders to Jesus the same way we receive our victory when we apply our faith.
From our passage we learnt our faith is the victory, note that the passage didn’t say, ‘ our faith brings the victory ‘, but our faith is the victory. It is like you using DEBIT CARD to withdraw money, the debit card is equal to cash as long as the account is funded. Our account for victory is well funded while faith is the debit card to withdraw.
Activating your faith is activating your victory.
HOW DO I ACTIVATE MY FAITH?
Time won’t permit me to share some revelations here, let me just paraphrase; you will notice Jesus used the phrase, ‘ YOUR FAITH has made you whole ‘ for the woman with the issue of blood in Matthew 9:22, it occurs to me like a personal property; YOUR FAITH and MY FAITH.
Your faith is activated when you put it to work through prayer, through prayer your faith is put into use, trusting God for a matter in the place of prayer is activating your faith.
As we wait upon the Lord today, trust him for great things, and expect the unusual tonight as you join us for PREVAILING NIGHT. God bless you.
