PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
9th August 2020
Topic: COMMITTED TO SERVE
Text: Joshua 24:15KJV

15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Commitment is the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. It also means a pledge or undertaking towards a cause. Service to God without any doubt requires commitment. God loves commitment because he himself is committed.

From the very beginning when God made the heaven and the earth, God has been committed, doing the works of creation in six days consecutively to rest on the seventh day when he had completed his works of creation is a clear display of commitment. So God was committed to his works of creation so much that when he finished he beheld his works and concluded that they were very good as recorded in Genesis 1:31

“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”

We also discovered, God was committed to his fellowship with man from the garden of Eden. So committed that the scripture says he comes down from heaven in the evening to fellowship with Adam and Eve in the garden, until Adam and Eve sinned against God and were driven out of the garden (Genesis 3). Though Adam and Eve failed in God in fellowship in the garden of Eden, yet God is still ever committed to his fellowship with man. According to Matthew 18:20, he made a commitment to the gathering of his people saying

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them”.

So God will honour the fellowship or gathering of his children in his name with his presence.

Joshua made a commitment from our scriptural text above, that as for him and his household, they would serve the Lord, because in his work with God he had learnt greatly that God is very much committed to his works and to his people. Beloved, the big question to you is, are you committed to God’s service? Think on this thing…

PRAYER:
* Father, help me to be committed in your service in Jesus Name.
