Text: Deuteronomy 15:11

11 For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land.

The word poor is defined as lacking sufficient money to live at a standard considered comfortable or normal in a society. A poor person is a person deserving pity or sympathy. From the scriptural text above, God said the poor shall not cease in the land, in other words everyone in the land will not be rich, just as we have generally those called the rich we also will have in general those called the poor.

However, God has great promises for his people according to Deuteronomy 15:4 saying

“However, there will be no poor among you, since the Lord will surely bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess”

God is committed to fulfilling his promises, He says you will not be poor because he will surely bless you in the land which he has given to you to possess. It means though the poor will not cease in the land, God is committed to blessing you his own. However, he will bless you in the land he has given unto you for possession, in other words the blessings of God is most probable when you are stay occupied in the land, in that very place that God asked you to be.

A very good scriptural example was Isaac, in Genesis 26. Isaac was in the land of the Philistines, but for the famine in the land, Isaac wanted to go down to Egypt but God told to stay in the land where he asked to stay. Though there was famine and poverty in the land, yet Isaac was abundantly blessed because he obeyed and stayed in the land where God instructed him to stay. See what verse 12 of Genesis 26 says

“Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him”

Dearly beloved, though the poor will not cease in the land, God is committed to bringing you out of poverty and bless you, he is committed to making you a blessing to the poor. I pray for you today, that the blessing of God, that makes rich and add no sorrow shall encompass you from today in Jesus Name.

* Father, I receive the blessings to get out of poverty in Jesus Name.
