Topic: I WILL ARISE …part 3.
Text : Luke 15:17,18.
17: “When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger!
18: I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you. NLT.
There are lots of lessons to learn from the parable of the prodigal son, if it is not relevant to our lives Jesus would not have used it to minister to us.
I want to stress 2 important points here: if you look at verse 17 in New Living Translation you will notice these 2 important statements;
1, ‘ When he finally came to his senses ‘
2, ‘ he said to himself ‘
These 2 statements are always responsible for everyone’s action, let me start with the first one ‘ when he finally came to his senses ‘. Challenges of lives make people to lose their senses, negative thoughts run through the mind when there is crisis.
Wrong decisions are taken when one is not in his right senses, your thinking in the time of crisis propels your action, when the mind is in it right state, right decisions is taken, vice versa.
The first thing to do is to always ensure that you keep your mind in right state, ‘ came to his senses ‘, means he has not been in his right state of mind, his mind was darkened I guess, and that led to his journey from prosperity to penury, and when he finally came to his senses, that is, getting his mind in the right state, he journeyed back to prosperity . Solution to every problem always begin with the mind.
Let’s look at the second statement that led to his restoration, ‘ he said to himself ‘, every man who encountered change in his life said something to himself. Every action a man takes is a product of what he says to himself. An armed robber said something to himself before he started robbing, a prostitute said something to herself before going into prostitution, everyone who committed suicide said something to himself or herself before taking such terrible step.
Every victor, winner, successful man, great man, achiever said something to himself. Can you count the number of times you talk to yourself daily? What you say to yourself over time will eventually manifest in your life. Your decision is a product of what you say to yourself, it is absolutely important you give all diligence to ensure you say good things to yourself always. God bless you.
