PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
23rd May, 2020.
Topic: LIFE’S LIGHT…part 3.
Text: John 1:4,5.

4: In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5: And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The focus in this part is the reflection of light in our families. Light disperses darkness, when God’s light shines in your family there will be no place for the devil, how to lighting up your family is what I am sharing here.

I want to discuss 2 points here. The first pont is this: using darkness to represent anything that is evil, God’s light in you can light up the entire aspect of your life and family, the light is potent enough to break evil orders in the family both nuclear and extended.

You see some people try to dissociate from family members claiming that family battle is affecting them, you hear some prophets telling people to avoid their family members, there will be no need for all that when this light shines, in history, darkness has never conquered light except there is problem with the source of the light.

God’s light in you is potent enough to lighten up the dark parts of the family, family battles will simply bow to the light. No curse on the family or covenant can subdue the light. The light is what God has given you to overcome the battles of life.

The second point is the fact that we are to raise children whose lives are filled with light through this light, God expects us to shed this light in the lives of our children, hear what Jesus said in Luke 17:2 It would
be more profitable for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were hurled into the sea than that he should cause to sin or be a snare to one of these little ones [lowly in rank or influence]. Jesus seriously frown at misleading the children, he expects that we give all diligence to ensure their lives are lightened up.

I can’t recover from the impact my dad made in our lives: he did ensure we go to church, not going to church on Sunday was like not going to school on Monday. He was so determined to get rid of anger in my life, he did plead with those who came for evangelism in our house to focus on me. What a commitment to see his boy grow in the Lord, we were regular in church than our pastor, and at the same time he wouldn’t take 2nd position in class as result after each examination, anything below first position will amount to insults and scolding, his rebuke was more painful than beating.

What a way to bring a child into the light? Excellent academic performance coupled with the fear of God, that is the light. No child grows this way and go wayward. This is the way to lighten up the lives of our children. I see many parents giving so much attention to their children’s academic and little or none to their relationship with God, how many times have you been to church and asked your children to stay at home? You ensure they do assignments, but you don’t bother if they study the Bible, they can go have fun, but they don’t know how to fast and pray, your emphasis is always books study not Bible study, you are not doing well enough.

Your children are good in mathematics and other subjects, but they can’t explain what salvation is let alone experience it. To get their lives lightened up requires a conscious effort just as their academic requires devotion and commitment from both teachers and students. Misleading these children will attract severe punishment from God according to Luke 17:2. God bless you.
