Topic: YOUR LEAVES SHALL NEVER WITHER
Text: Psalms 1:1-3.
1: Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
2: But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.
3: They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. NLT
Precious promises in the Bible are for us, the Bible is the manual for our lives and that is the reason we should always study to know the way to go in life.
As we get instructions from the word of God and obey them our lives get better as we grow older. To some people getting older is getting faddish while to some getting older is growing fatter in grace.
Growing fatter in grace becomes the order of your life when you live by the word of God, the Psalmist was giving a description of those who pattern their lives by the word of God, and his description was by the spirit of God because all scripture is written by the inspiration of God. 2 Timothy 3:16.
Let me analyse one of his statements, ‘ their leaves shall never wither ‘ he was talking about those who live their lives by the word of God. Leaf that is not withered is a fresh one, what does a fresh leaf symbolise? It connotes the prosperity of the tree, leaf reflects the glory of a tree, a tree with fresh leaves is a healthy one. It connotes fruitfulness and productivity.
The Psalmsist liken those who live by the word of God to a tree that is rightly positioned ( by the rivers of water ), ‘ THEIR LEAVES SHALL NEVER WITHER ‘, means their glory will not fade away.
Children are part of the glory God has given men, this means their children shall live gloriously, every other thing they have laboured for shall abide, there shall be no loss of life and property.
Living by God’s word is living in the abundance of his grace and promises for our lives, as parents leave inheritance for their children we have great inheritance in Christ which we can only access by obeying his words. God bless you.
* My leaves shall never wither in Jesus name.
