Topic: HIS LIKENESS ..part 2.
Text : Genesis 1:26.
26: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
In part 1, I stopped at seeing and handling problems the way God sees and handles them. God has dominion over all, and he delegated that to man, his likeness is expected to have dominion over other creatures.
Man’s world is characterized with challenges, but he is empowered by God to conquer those challenges. He is not made a weakling to be intimidated by his challenges rather, he is empowered to walk through them and come out victoriously.
The Psalmist speaking Psalms 8:4 said What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
6: Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet.
Please note that the Scriptures are not exaggerated because they are written by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. Also, note the last sentence in verse 6 ‘..thou hast put all things under his feet ‘.
You must understand that man is given dominion, lost it through Adam, but regains it through Jesus, that is the reason it is important you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, that’s how to get the dominion back.
Let me show you similarity in Adam’s and Jesus’ Dominion: in Genesis 1:26 … let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Fishes are under the Earth, fowls of the air are above the Earth and creeping things are on Earth, Now look at Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. Do you notice things in heaven (above Earth), things in Earth and under? Do you see the similarity?
Adam lost it through disobedience, while Jesus got it back for us through obedience, how do I know? Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
We have dominion in Christ, please don’t entertain fear when challenges come, just exercise your dominion by your faith in Christ Jesus. God bless you.
* As we wait upon the Lord today exercise dominion over unpleasant things around your life, speak against them through the name of Jesus.
