Topic: DEALING WITH WEAKNESS….Part 7
Text: 2nd Corinthians 12:9KJV
9 He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
In part six we discussed some dangers of weakness. Today we want to talk about how to deal with weakness.
Before you can deal with weakness you need to first settle these in your mind:
* That weakness is not God’s plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11)
* You can overcome that weakness and be free. (John 8:36)
To overcome weakness you need:
* Absolute hatred for that weakness: What you don’t hate cannot leave you and if you are indifferent about a thing or you care less that the thing exist then it cannot leave you. You have to hate that weakness with passion, view it as a disease or sickness that you must be cured of and delivered from. When you have absolutely hatred, you will not allow it to take the whole of you every time nor give it room to operate freely in your life and before you know it you will overcome with God’s help.
* God to help you: 1 Samuel 2:9 says
…. for by strength shall no man prevail,
meaning your strength can fail you, you have no power of your own but need God to empower you. From our text above, Paul knew clearly that his strength cannot help him because in Romans 7:15,19, 20 & 24 he said
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
So you need to constantly rely on the help of God to overcome that weakness and cry unto him for strength to live above your weakness.
* Discipline: A disciplined lifestyle is very essentially in dealing with weakness, that you need the strength from above to overcome weakness does not mean that you should be lazy, you need to be strong, stand firm and be discipline in all spheres of life whether physically or spiritually. You will agree with me for example that if drunkenness is your weakness you need discipline to be able to say NO when the temptation comes. If you are not disciplined, even if God delivers you from weakness, you will soon go back to the vomit. Be discipline in prayer, in God’s words and say NO to weakness. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, give me grace to overcome and strength to deal with every weakness in my life in Jesus Name.
