Topic: SOME PEOPLE BEFORE US.
Text: Hebrews 12:1.

1: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. NLT

The world is old and many generations have come and gone, we are not the first set of people here, our great grand parents came and gone, and certainly we will leave here one day, we can’t be here forever.

A wise man will ask this question; where are those who used to be here many years ago? Billions of people have passed through this world and we need to ask ourselves, where do they go we they leave this world?

From the light of the scriptures there is no reincarnation, everyone faces eternity. No other world, but eternity. All those, either believers or unbelievers, who passed through this world had challenges, yet some of them were able to make heaven, they prevailed over all the challenges, they wouldn’t allow unpleasant circumstances to hinder them from entering heaven.

From our text we have people who didn’t lose their faith but rather stood for God and have passed on the eternity, they have gone to reign with God while some compromise their faith and lost it to hell. Our text says, ‘ we have a cloud of witnesses to the life of faith ‘, this means that we have people who can testify to living a life of faith and not compromise.

I have 2 major points of emphasis here;
1, We will not be here forever, eternity is waiting for everyone of us.
2, Some people passed through this world without compromising their faith, if they didn’t we can also live without compromising. Look at this scripture ; Hebrews 10:38 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Hebrews 12:1 gives important admonishion to everyone who does not want to loss his or her soul to hell, look at this lines: ‘…let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Avoiding sin, flee from all appearances of evil.
