Topic: DEALING WITH WEAKNESS….Part 6
Text: 2nd Corinthians 12:9KJV

9 He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

In part five we discussed foundation as one of the sources of weakness in man. Today we want to look at the dangers of weakness.

Weakness is not a destiny and it is not God’s plan for anyone, therefore it should be dealt with. Living with weakness could be dangerous to the journey of a man in life and so it’s important that a man deals with his weakness and never allows it to destroy him. Some dangers of weakness are:

* Untimely Death: A good example is Samson according Judges 13-16. Samson had a weakness of lust for women, his lust for a strange woman called Delilah (a lady from the land of his enemy) made him to tell her the secret of his destiny and that secret was used against him. Samson eventually prayed he died with his enemy, such an untimely death and that ended his God given purpose for Israel which is to deliver the Israelites from the Philistines.

* Termination of Ministry: Moses was a great man with purpose but had a occasional weakness of anger. At a particular time in his ministry, the Israelites provoked him to anger and that put an end to his ministry. In Numbers 20, the Israelites cried unto Moses for water, Moses went to God and God told Moses to speak to the rock for water, but out of anger and provocation from the Israelites, Moses struck the rock with his rod instead of speaking to the rock as God instructed. Though water came out of the rock but God was displeased at the disobedience of Moses and God told him that an end has come to his ministry according to Numbers 20:12

And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

* Sin Against God: king David, suffered a weakness at a time in his reign over Israel, he lusted after one of his warriors’ wife (Uraih’s wife) and committed adultery with her. The woman became pregnant and then in a bid for David to cover his sin, he plotted the death of Uriah at war front. God who sees in the secret and rewards in the open sent a prophet to David to tell him what he has done and the prophet did pronounce a curse upon him as recorded in 2nd Samuel 12:10-12

Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.

Dearly beloved the danger of weakness cannot be exhausted but certainly it does no good to anyone man but destruction. So deal with that weakness before it deals with you. God bless you.

PRAYER:
* Father, take away every weakness deposited in me to destroy my life in Jesus Name.
