Topic: THE GENESIS OF FAITH
Text: Hebrews 11:6.
6: But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out]. Amplified.
God is not visible but his works are seen, it takes faith to see his manifestations in our lives, coming to God requires application of faith, connecting to him requires application of faith, if we will see his works in our lives we must put faith into action.
According to the writer of our text, anyone who must come to him must believe that he exists, believing the existence of God is the genesis of our faith, we have never seen his face, we do not see him physically yet we must believe that he exists. Believing in his existence though we do not see him is first step in getting blessings from him.
Why do I need to explain this? Sometimes we go through things and it appears like God is not there to help, everyone who will get his attention must believe his existence even when there appear to be no help for him. Doubting God’s existence will cost you your victory. So everyone who will come must first believe his existence.
Using the challenges around to determine if he is with us or not is contrary to faith, faith is believing God no matter what happens, as we trust God and believe him for our lives he shows up in our situations.
It is not enough to believe in the existence of God you must also understand that he is the rewarder of those who earnestly seek him, the word earnest is defined as;
1, Sincerely intended and with strong feeling.
2, characterized by a form and humorless belief in validity of your opinions.
This means God rewards those who have strong feeling and humorless belief in validity of their opinions.
Our active faith in God qualifies us for his reward, our passion towards God brings the manifestations of his power in our lives. Faith is believing the unseen God, it is believing things that are not seen against the things that are seen. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Hebrews 11: 1 NLT.
Let me give an example you can relate with: I don’t have money in my account and I believe I can do a project of $2m, that’s faith, believing what the unseen against the seen. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* As we wait upon the Lord today, commit the unseen and that which appears impossible into his hands.
