Topic: DEALING WITH WEAKNESS….Part 3
Text: 2nd Corinthians 12:9KJV
9 He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
In part two we discussed certain perspectives with which people view weakness, in particular that some see it as disease. Today we want to talk about another important perspective of men about weakness which is a belief that weakness is a tool or God’s deposit into man to check mate man.
Many people believe weakness comes from God, that God created them with such weakness to check mate them from excesses, to humble them so that they will not be too proud, to keep them as mortal being with imperfection as the believed that no mortal being can be perfect except God.
Reading through the Bible, God made everything not just good but very good, there was nothing that God made that was not good. Genesis 1:31 says
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good….
So if God makes all things very good, how then could he have created a weakness, a default or a disadvantage with his perfect creature?. Also in Matthew 5:48 Jesus said
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
So if Jesus commands us to be perfect as God why should we then think that God wants us to remain imperfect creating us with weaknesses. Finally, Jeremiah 29:11 says
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
God’s thought is never of evil and so could never have created a man with a potential evil (weakness) to live with all the days of his life, God’s plan and purpose is absolutely to give a great future and a glorious ending. The question then is, where does weakness comes from? This we shall consider in the part four.
Beloved, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning James 1:17, so change your perspective about that weakness in your life, look up to God and call upon him to make you overcome that weakness. Father, I receive grace to over every weakness in my life in Jesus Name.
