29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men
In part seven we discussed some dangers of incomplete diligence when a man is diligent spiritually but not physically. Today we want to consider those that bear record of diligence.
To bear record also called to bear witness means to speak for or stand to confirm that something exist or that it’s true. The three set of witness a man can have are:
* Self: Every man can bear witness of himself except such a man never wants to do so in sincerity and that would mean such a man choose to decieve himself. A diligent man can bear record of his diligence and can speak of it with boldness when situation demands. Paul did bear witness of his diligence speaking to Timothy in 2nd Timothy 4:7-8 he said
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Paul was so assured of his diligent life and services that he told Timothy that a crown of righteousness awaits him when he gets to heaven. King Hezekiah also bear record of himself when Isaiah told him that he would die, Heziah went to God and said
Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. (Isaiah 38:3).
By the reason of Hezekiah’s words, God added 15 years to his life. So if you are diligent you will know yourself that you are.
* Men: Everyman around a diligent man or who comes in contact with a diligent man knows that such man is diligent and can bear record of the same when situation arises. Pharaoh’s Chief Butler did bear record of Joseph’s diligence to King Pharaoh about how Joseph interpreted his dream and the events unfolded exactly as interpreted according to Genesis 41:1-13. This single witness brought Joseph out of prison to palace then he became a prime minister in his very land of slavery. So if you are diligent, others will know that you are.
* God: The Almighty God do bear witnesses of men who are diligent. God bears record of Job’s diligence even before Satan as perfect man speaking in Job 1:8
And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
God bears record of David’s diligence as a man after his heart according to Acts 13:22 which says
And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
If you are diligent, God knows you are.
However, self witness could lead to self glory or show of pride if care is not taken, men’s witness due to corruption could become biased but God’s witness is the only true and genuine witness a man can have? Dearly beloved, the question is can God bear you witness?
PRAYER:
* Father, help me to be diligent enough for heaven to bear me record in Jesus Name.
