Text: 2nd Corinthians 12:9 KJV

9 He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

In part eight we discussed about the measures of grace. Today we want to talk about how to receive grace from God.

We did define grace as passion, strength and empowerment and so grace as strength and empowerment comes from above just as Paul received a response from above according to our text, God saying “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in your weakness”. Now what are the factors or criteria to receive grace from above:

  • Humility: 1 Peter 5:5 says Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. God only releases his grace to him that is humble because when the grace brings about great exploits, God’s name must be glorified in all of it, his support and enablement must be acknowledged, his name must be praised and only the humble will remember that. The proud would ascribed the glory due to God to himself that’s why God resists him and will not release his grace upon him.
  • Availability: Grace as empowerment means it must be used. You don’t give power to someone who is lazy and who will not use it. So grace Is a function of availability, when you are available for God’s business, he releases grace upon you to serve him and do his business.
  • Intimacy with God: God is a God of grace that is he is a God full of strength and empowerment, and a close walk with him affords anyone the release of grace. The more closer you are to God, the more his grace rubs off on you, and the farther you are to him, the farther his grace wears off on you.

Beloved, God’s grace is ever available as he said my grace is sufficient for you, you only need to ask God in humility, make yourself available and get more closer to God. God bless you.
